The song sparrow sings each morning. Orioles and cat birds come and go eating jelly. Hummingbirds chase each other from the feeder. Birds splash in the bath. Chipmunks squeak. Cicadas hum.
Crickets and katydids chirp at night. Fireflies twinkle.
The air smells moist and grassy. Prairie cone flower (white and pink), butterfly weed, black-eyed susan and wild nodding onion blossoms fill the garden. Butterflies flit around the flowers. Bees buzz.
Hudson naps on the porch. I sip iced-tea and enjoy.
The white rabbit is hiding out in the wildflower beds down on the hillside.
What a lovely summer poem :)
